Choosing the right Drum Kit for your hire.
There are lots of things to consider when it comes to hiring a drum kit, and in truth it all depends on what you are going to be using it for?
For example, we get a lot of bands and professionals come to us with very specific requirements, such as drum kit makes and sizes. As you can imagine there are a lot of drum kit configurations that can be used within a set up and we like to think we have most bases covered.
The standard and most popular configuration is a five piece drum kit and this consists of a bass drum, two rack toms, a floor tom and a snare drum. This set up is perfect for pretty much most scenario’s, however some drummers will always want more!
Then we get a four piece drum kit which only has one rack tom, we call it in the trade one up, one down (referring to the toms) but each kit will always have a bass drum and snare drum included.
Once you have decided on what kit size you need for your drum kit rental we then move on to how premium you want (or need) the kit to be, and we offer drum kits at different quality levels to make sure we have something for everyone… and budget!
For example, you may be organising an event where multiple bands are playing on the same bill and are looking for a good work horse of a drum kit. In this situation we would recommend two options at two different price points. Our first recommendation would be our DW Performance Series drum kit. This kit falls in our middle price category and comes with great sound and build quality. Having said that, if you are on more of a budget you simply cannot go wrong with a Yamaha Stage Custom. This is in our entry price level but by no means does this make it inferior, in fact, these kits can compete quite happily with more expensive ones, and whilst it might not be as solidly built as a premium kit they aren’t far behind.
Lastly, we have our premium drum kits, the creme de la creme of quality, sound and build. Here at Drum-Plan we deal with a lot of events, tours and recording sessions that need a top of the range drum kit. What makes these kits better than cheaper ones? Simple, better quality woods and materials are used and this results in better sound. Fuller, deeper tones with more punch and they can even feel nicer to play as you strike the drum with a stick. Also, you get a lot more options with finishes and real care goes into making them, some are even signed inside by the factory worker who made it, how’s that for a personal touch!
Our premium drum kits include offerings from DW, Yamaha and Gretsch, Top manufactures and all of which you would have probably seen drum kits from them at some point on stage in an arena or a stadium.
When you hire a drum kit from us we include a hardware pack as standard. This includes three cymbal stands, one hi-hat stand, one snare drum stand, a single bass drum pedal, a drum stool and mat so you have everything you need. We don’t include cymbals within the price as some drummers need them and some don’t. If you do need cymbals when you rent a drum kit from us, we can offer either a standard or a premium cymbal pack for an additional fee - please ask us for details when booking.
So there you go, drum kit rental doesn’t need to get complicated as we have all bases covered for you, well, I say “most” bases, sometimes we get a request that we simply cannot supply, like a ten-piece bright pink sparkle kit… maybe next year!
If you need a drum kit for an event, tour, or something else, please head over to our website www.drumplan.co.uk for more information on our drum kits and the booking process, or contact us and we will talk you through your specific requirements.
